Tax Manager for an Integrated Wealth & Tax Practice
Fortress Financial Partners is a Raleigh-based wealth management firm high-net-worth client families: business owners, executives, entrepreneurs, and medical professionals. Our tax practice supports approximately 200 households and operates as a fully integrated part of the planning relationship, not a standalone prep shop. That integration is the whole point. Tax decisions and investment, insurance, and estate decisions get made in the same room.
We're hiring a Tax Manager to own the tax side of that relationship.
What you'll do
You'll split your time evenly between compliance and planning for a sophisticated book of clients, working directly alongside our advisors rather than in a silo. On the compliance side, that means preparing and reviewing individual, business (S-corp, partnership), and trust returns. On the planning side, it means running proactive strategy throughout the year: entity structuring, multi-year projections, and charitable and estate work. Across both, you'll translate tax complexity into plain recommendations clients and advisors can actually act on.
This is a seat with real ownership. You won't be one of forty managers pushing volume. You'll be the person clients and partners turn to when the question is "what does this mean for my taxes."
What we're looking for
CPA or EA, with meaningful experience in individual and pass-through entity taxation (HNW client exposure is a strong plus). You're comfortable owning client relationships and communicating directly. You think a step ahead of the return rather than just closing it. Comfort working next to a wealth management team, where tax is one input among several, matters more here than raw volume throughput.
