Job Summary Responsible for extracting knowledge and insights from data to investigate business/operational problems, using data preparation, modeling, analysis, and visualization techniques. Essential Functions Collect, analyze, and report data to support decisions on day-to-day operations, strategic planning, and business performance issues. Collate, model, interpret, and analyze data. Explain variances and trends in data. Identify and document enhancements to modeling techniques. Perform thorough quality assurance procedures, ensuring accuracy, reliability, trustworthiness, and validity of work. Perform data validation of source-to-target data for data visuals and dashboards. About MPEC The Medical Practice Evaluation Center (MPEC) at Massachusetts General Hospital is dedicated to improving clinical outcomes, increasing value in health policy, and informing global public health through innovative research, collaboration, and education. The Database Design and Management Coordinator will work with an internationally recognized multidisciplinary team of researchers from MGH, Harvard Medical School, and collaborators at multiple international institutions. Additional Job Details The candidate should be highly motivated with experience in database design and data management as well as clinical and public health research. The primary responsibilities include designing, implementing, and managing relational databases; supporting data curation across research and programmatic data systems; leading data quality monitoring and control activities; creating analytic datasets; and collaborating with data analysts, investigators, and collaborators on data analysis and interpretation for publication and dissemination of research findings. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s Degree required in Analysis or a related field. Experience may substitute for a degree. Experience: 2–3 years working with data, preferably healthcare data. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Healthcare knowledge, particularly of electronic medical record data, preferred. Working knowledge of relational databases, SQL, data visualization, and business intelligence tools such as Tableau. Knowledge and application of statistical analyses, including variance analysis and statistical significance, preferred. Project management skills and/or experience a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
