Litigation Associate, Construction Defect

Distinct | North America

Litigation Associate | Boca Raton, FL | $125,000 to $180,000 | Construction Defect

This is a construction defect defense role for a Florida lawyer who already knows a design defect from a workmanship claim, and doesn't need a primer on Chapter 558. It starts hybrid in Boca Raton, with the option to go remote once you're settled.

I'm Ryan Jaiswal at Distinct Recruitment, hiring for an insurance defense firm whose CD team sits in Boca Raton. The pitch is simple. Better files, more time in front of a mediator or judge, and pay that reflects what CD lawyers are worth.

Most construction defect cases settle. Everyone knows that. But the lawyers who settle them best are the ones prepared to try them, and that preparation is where this team puts its effort. You'll take and defend depositions, work closely with experts, argue your own motions and lead at mediation. When a file does head to trial, you'll be in the room, not reading about it afterwards.

Quick facts:

• Hybrid to start, based out of Boca Raton, with the option to go remote once you're settled

• Travel for inspections, depositions, mediations and court

• 1,900 billable hours

• $125,000 to $180,000, sized to cover a solid mid level through to counsel level

• Florida Bar required

• 2+ years of construction defect defense. It's specialist work, so this isn't the move for a generalist trying CD for the first time

• Clients include contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and design professionals on condo, HOA and commercial projects

On money: the top of the band is there for people who bring it. Maybe you already run your own CD files, handle experts without hand holding and can close out a multiparty mediation. Then you should be having a very different salary conversation from someone two years in. The range lets that happen.

On the remote option: the office time at the start is about getting to know the team, not clocking in. Once you're settled, you're trusted to work where you work best. Your day is your own. Your files are yours. What gets noticed is the quality of the work.
