The Assistant Wrestling Coach plays a vital role in shaping the daily student-athlete experience and contributing to a positive, competitive, and supportive program.Key ResponsibilitiesPartner with the Head Wrestling Coach to plan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate practices and competitionsSupport the growth of a cohesive program across Middle and Upper School levelsMentor student-athletes in skill development, sportsmanship, and personal growthPromote and monitor academic success in alignment with school expectationsFoster a team culture rooted in respect, inclusion, and accountabilityCollaborate with colleagues, families, and the athletic department to support the overall student experienceContribute to program-building efforts, including outreach and player development initiativesWhat We’re Looking ForA strong foundation in wrestling, including practice design, competition strategy, and athlete developmentA commitment to education-based athletics and student-centered coachingThe ability to build meaningful relationships with student-athletes and positively engage families and colleaguesExcellent communication, organization, and leadership skillsA demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusionQualificationsBachelor’s degree preferredPrevious coaching experience required; collegiate experience preferredA genuine enthusiasm for working with middle and high school studentsPhysical RequirementsAbility to actively engage in practices and competitions, including demonstrating techniquesAbility to lift up to 30 pounds and perform movements such as standing, running, bending, and kneelingComfort working in a dynamic and occasionally loud athletic environmentSupervisionThis position reports to the Head Wrestling Coach and the Director of Athletics and Wellness.At Friends’ Central School, we believe in the power of athletics to teach life lessons that extend far beyond competition.
