Job Overview As a Retail Selling Colleague, you blend sales results with genuine hospitality to create standout shopping experiences. You understand customer needs, offer personalized recommendations, and build trust to achieve sales targets and inspire loyalty. Responsibilities Greet and connect with customers in a friendly and genuine way. Recommend products by asking questions to identify customer needs. Offer options and solutions to complete the sale. Wrap up the moment to close out the customer's shopping journey, celebrating their purchases. Master store products, services, loyalty programs, and Macy’s sales systems. Maintain department recovery standards, including selling floor and fitting rooms. Deliver optimal merchandise execution and ensure accurate merchandise pricing. Process markdowns in a timely and accurate manner. Help keep the shopping space clean, organized, and inviting. Support teamwork by collaborating across departments to drive sales and deliver the customer experience. Skills and Qualifications Product Knowledge – good understanding of items and ability to provide expert guidance. Communication – comfortable communicating with customers, via phone, and in person. Sales – build relationships with customers, achieve sales goals, and participate in sales‑boosting events. Technology – utilize point‑of‑sale technology and applications to help sell and fulfill orders. Continuous Learning – self‑driven to keep up with product knowledge and stay current through training. Interpersonal Skills – work effectively with colleagues at all levels and across departments. Collaboration – partner with the total team to drive sales and deliver the customer experience. Must be able to understand and communicate effectively in English, read employment policies, and follow safety rules. No education or experience required. Physical Requirements Prolonged standing or walking up to two hours or more. Frequent use of computers and handheld equipment. Reach, lift, squat, crouch, or climb ladders; lift up to 30 lbs.
