Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Open Heart Nurse in Alexandria, Louisiana. This position involves providing specialized perioperative care to patients undergoing cardiac surgeries, including CABGs and valve procedures. The role requires independence in clinical practice within a fast-paced surgical environment and the ability to manage complex patient needs before, during, and after procedures.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred; 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred; BLS and ACLS required through the American Heart Association; RN License in the state of employment or a compact license.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience circulating cardiac cases, including CABGs, valves, and other cardiac surgeries.
• Responsibilities: Deliver nursing care per the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for cardiac surgical patients; administer medications and treatments following protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness; document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided; conduct patient and family education; make appropriate assignments and delegations; provide holistic care addressing psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs.
• Additional Information: On-call during weekdays and weekends; call duties required during the week and on weekends.
