YogaSix Instructor – Job Description

Position Overview

At YogaSix, we believe yoga is for everyone. Our instructors are the heart of our studio experience, creating welcoming, energizing, and inclusive classes that help students feel stronger, more balanced, and connected.

We're looking for passionate, engaging instructors who bring their authentic personalities to the mat while delivering safe, creative, and high-quality classes. Beyond teaching, our instructors play an essential role in building relationships, fostering community, and creating an environment that keeps students coming back.

Key Responsibilities

Class Instruction & Experience

• Deliver engaging, safe, and thoughtfully sequenced classes that align with YogaSix standards, formats, and teaching guidelines.
• Bring energy, creativity, and personality to each class while maintaining a consistent, high-quality student experience.
• Provide clear instruction, appropriate modifications, and encouragement to support students of all experience levels.
• Create an inclusive, supportive environment where every student feels welcome, challenged, and successful.

Student Engagement & Community

• Build genuine relationships with students by learning names, understanding their goals, and making personal connections.
• Welcome students before class and engage with them afterward to answer questions, offer encouragement, and gather feedback.
• Help foster a positive studio culture and a strong sense of community that encourages student retention and engagement.
• Represent YogaSix professionally and positively in all interactions with students, staff, and the broader community.

Studio Operations & Professionalism

• Arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled classes (30 minutes for 5:45 AM classes) to prepare and welcome students.
• Prepare the practice room, including props, mat spacing, music, lighting, and temperature, to ensure an optimal class experience.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming studio environment, including completing post-class cleaning and resetting the practice room.
• Communicate proactively and professionally with studio management regarding scheduling, availability, and other operational needs.
• Participate in ongoing training, development, and feedback to maintain YogaSix teaching standards and continually improve the student experience.

• Passion for yoga, fitness, wellness, and helping others achieve their goals.
• Warm, outgoing, and approachable personality with a genuine ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and experience levels.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a group.
• Ability to deliver safe, engaging, and creative classes while adapting instruction to meet individual student needs.
• Positive attitude, sense of humor, and enthusiasm for creating an enjoyable class experience.
• Dependable, punctual, professional, and committed to being a supportive team member.
• Receptive to feedback and dedicated to continued learning and professional growth.
• Minimum 200-hour yoga teacher training certification (for yoga instructor positions).
• At least one year of teaching experience preferred; exceptional newer instructors are encouraged to apply.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout the practice room, including in heated environments, to observe students and provide instruction.
• Ability to demonstrate postures, exercises, and transitions appropriate to the class format, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to lift, carry, and reposition studio equipment and props, typically weighing 1–10 pounds.
• Ability to communicate instructions clearly and effectively in a group fitness environment.
