QC Inspector

The QC Inspector performs detailed in-process and final inspections of printed circuit board assemblies to ensure they meet customer specifications and comply with industry standards. Serving as the final quality checkpoint in the manufacturing process, this role identifies defects, verifies rework, and confirms adherence to IPC-A-610, AS9100D, and ISO standards. The position requires strong attention to detail, proficiency with inspection tools, and the ability to maintain accurate quality documentation and traceability.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed visual inspections of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) during in-process and final stages to ensure compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.
• Conduct inspections under magnification using microscopes and other visual aids to evaluate high-density electronic assemblies.
• Verify builds against blueprints, schematics, assembly drawings, BOMs, and routing instructions to confirm accuracy and completeness.
• Identify and classify solder defects such as bridges, cold joints, insufficient solder, polarity issues, and missing or misaligned components.
• Perform and document First Article Inspections, ensuring assemblies meet design and process requirements.
• Validate rework and repairs to confirm that all defects have been corrected and that assemblies meet IPC-A-610 and related standards.
• Collaborate closely with SMT and AOI teams to resolve quality issues and support continuous improvement efforts.
• Use ERP/MRP systems to record inspection results, maintain traceability, and update quality records.
• Document defects clearly and accurately, including description, location, and severity, to support production and engineering teams.
• Ensure adherence to AS9100D and ISO quality system requirements throughout the inspection process.
• Follow ESD protocols and handle sensitive electronic components with care to prevent damage.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-conscious inspection area and comply with all company procedures and work instructions.

Essential Skills

• 35 years of quality inspection experience in electronics manufacturing, specifically with printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA).
• Proven hands-on experience performing visual inspections on PCB assemblies under magnification.
• Active or recent IPC-A-610 certification.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, assembly drawings, BOMs, and routing instructions.
• Expert-level component recognition for both SMT and through-hole components.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct First Article Inspections and validate builds against BOMs and drawings.
• Ability to identify solder defects including bridges, cold joints, insufficient solder, polarity issues, and missing parts.
• Experience working with SMT and AOI teams in a production environment.
• Experience using ERP/MRP systems to support inspection and documentation activities.
• Knowledge of AS9100D and ISO quality standards in electronics manufacturing.
• Excellent attention to detail and sustained focus when working with high-density electronic assemblies.
• Strong communication skills for documenting defects and collaborating with production and engineering teams.
• Visual acuity and comfort using microscopes and magnification tools for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity for handling delicate, ESD-sensitive electronic components.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• IPC J-STD-001 certification or demonstrated knowledge of IPC J-STD-001 standards (preferred).
• Experience in regulated environments such as aerospace and medical device manufacturing.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610 beyond certification, including practical application in a production setting.
• Experience in working within structured quality systems aligned with AS9100D and ISO requirements.
• Ability to thrive in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with engineering, AOI, SMT, and production teams.

Work Environment

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Garland, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
