JOB SUMMARY Sewing Machine Operator & Repair Specialist
No Experience Needed - Learn to Sew! As a Sewing Machine Operator & Repair Specialist, you will be performing repairs to firefighter gear to meet our customer specifications and expectations. You will ensure high levels of customer satisfaction, efficient service delivery, and maintain high-quality standards. You can help save lives.
Position Details:
Location: 9 Germay Drive Suite 200A, Wilmington, Delaware, 19804
Hours: Monday to Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, Overtime and Saturday work available.
Reports to: TotalCare Site Supervisor
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- We will teach you to operate a sewing machine. Single, double, or multi-needle serger.
- Sew repairs to gear in accordance with company best practices.
- Prepare machine by changing needles and thread, and oiling and changing bobbin. Mount sewing machine attachments like needles, threads, pattern plates, and adjust machine guides according to repair needs.
- Meet delivery deadlines by working with the team to ensure firefighter gear is repaired on time and meets our high quality standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping in sewing area.
- Other duties as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works well with other production associates.
- Must be able to follow instructions consistently with minimum supervision.
- Eager to learn to sew and learn how to follow sewing standards.
- Has great attention to detail and cares about meeting high quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Must follow company rules and regulations.
- Ability to multi-task.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Motivated to learn to sew and become part of an amazing team who help protect our firefighters every day.
- Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to work well with a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and organized.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment and to meet all deadlines.
- Experience with a sewing machine considered an asset.
- Basic knowledge of sewing principles and garment construction considered a huge asset.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Standing, sitting, walking, bending as needed.
- Using proper lifting technique may be required to lift objects up to 30 lbs.
