Through a shared culture of relentless innovation, Waters' passionate team of approximately 16,000 colleagues partner with customers to turn scientific challenges into breakthroughs that improve lives worldwide.Job ResponsibilitiesPerforms routine set up, operation, minor and major routine maintenance, preventative maintenance (PM) and troubleshooting of highly complex/automated manufacturing equipment. Controls and adjusts machine settings.Responsibilities include production, quality, downtime and waste levels of machine operation. Perform mechanical, pneumatic and electrical maintenance (including preventive) repairs, adjustments, inspection and monitoring of production and/or facilities related equipment and machinery.Uses judgment to plan, perform, make decisions, troubleshoot and problem solve in performance of all maintenance tasks.Prioritizes daily work assignments to meet production needs and department goals.Responsible for preventive maintenance scheduling, completion of work orders and tasks as assigned.Supports installation and removal of equipment, and performance of required corrective maintenance.Consistent presence in production departments. Monitors the production lines and proactively evaluates equipment performance for repairs and continuous improvement.Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude to complete changeover of equipment and some operator level preventive maintenance.Assist with root-cause analysis activities for process or product exceptions.Checks work using prescribed gauges, jig and fixtures to measure close tolerances.Ensures accurate documentation of all relevant quality, safety and maintenance documents.Shift: 2nd Shift 2:00pm to 10:30pmTo be done in conjunction with Engineering, Quality and Production supervision:Organizes, executes and directs improvement projects to increase equipment utilization.Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves complex issues associated with the machine performance and/or product quality.Advises on proper content of PM task list and frequency of execution.Assists with the installation, debug, and start-up of all new or modified production equipment.Works with general supervision.Works with external contractors and vendor as neededDemonstrates the ability to follow established procedures according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)Must follow all BD housekeeping policies and proceduresMust follow all BD safety policies and proceduresMust be able to work overtime as required to meet BD business requirementsPerforms other duties as assigned.QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED and 2 years relevant experience requiredRelevant Fields: Electrical / Electronics Technician, Electromechanical Technician, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Industrial Programmer, Electrician, Machine Builder / Repairer, Machinist, Refrigeration Mechanic, Welding RepairerKnowledge/Basic Skills:Time management skills required to ensure all tasks are completed without delayStrong interpersonal and communication skills required to work with various teamsMechanical, pneumatic and electrical skills, must analyze, troubleshoot and repair complex equipment and machinery.Ability to read electrical and pneumatic schematicsAbility to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, diagrams and equipment specifications.Flexible and adaptable in working with/on a variety of equipment, processes, projects or assignments.Understanding and use of trades mathematics, calibration techniques, and precision measuring instruments essential.Constant mental and visual attention performing moderately complex work requiring close limits of accuracy and tolerances.Must be knowledgeable in the following areas:Use of a PC including MS Excel & MSWord.Demonstrate mechanical aptitudeDemonstrate electrical aptitudeDemonstrate hydraulics, pneumatics aptitudeAbility to use multimeterSensor technologyBasic plumbing (fluid and pneumatic)Power transmission (gear box, motors, belt and chain drives) -Basic machiningElectrical troubleshooting of circuits from low level signals up to 480 VAC.Additional experience PREFERRED:Troubleshooting of Industrial Control Systems (instrumentation, ladder logic, relay logic, vfd, servo etc.)Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of PLC operations, robotics, and vision systems.Mechanical design (AutoCad, Solidworks, etc.)SAP maintenance module or equivalent computerized system (welding)Basic skills in use of mill, lathe, welding, bearing pressWhy Join Us?To find purpose in the possibilities, we need people who can see the bigger picture, who understand the human story that underpins everything we do.
