ACO, Inc. Distribution Material Handler Position DescriptionDistribution Material Handler Summary:To pull, package and load material for customer ordersDistribution Material Handler Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Pick material (by hand, forklift, or pallet jack) for orders by following picking slip provided by Distribution Office PersonnelArrange material on pallets as necessary and deliver picked orders to the packaging areaStrap, stretch wrap, bubble wrap or box shipment, as directedMaintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventoryLocates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production ordersPrepare shipping labels and attach them to finished packages prior to shipmentLoad trucks by matching bill of lading with material ready for shippingLoad material on trucks with forklift or pallet jack and complete all appropriate documentation, including pallet itemization sheetsMaintain clean, organized working, warehouse, and yard areas, including trash removal, sweeping and snow removal (for East Locations)Complete daily maintenance checklist for forklift, as assignedServe as back-up for the Receiving Department - unload trucks and count stockFollow Company policies and proceduresDistribution Material Handler Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Distribution Material Handler Physical Demands:Frequently required to stand, walk, and sitFrequently lift and/or move a minimum of seventy-five pounds and a maximum of 75 poundsDistribution Material Handler Additional Eligibility Requirements:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosAbility to write simple correspondenceAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organizationAbility to perform basic mathAbility to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distanceAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructionsAbility to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situationsCertified Forklift OperatorDistribution Material Handler Additional Duties:The above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
