Structural Engineer

A growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking a Structural Engineer to join its Chicago team. The firm delivers complex commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and public-sector building projects throughout Chicago and the wider Midwest. This position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging structural projects while taking on increasing responsibility for design, project delivery, client coordination, and mentoring junior engineers. The role is well suited to an engineer looking to progress toward project management and technical leadership within a collaborative environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and contribute to the design and analysis of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures Prepare structural calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documents Develop structural models using industry-standard analysis and design software Coordinate with architects, contractors, owners, and multidisciplinary engineering teams Support new-build, renovation, rehabilitation, and adaptive‑reuse projects Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and provide construction administration support Assist with mentoring junior engineers and reviewing technical work Participate in client meetings, proposal preparation, and business development efforts Support project schedules, budgets, and overall delivery Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering 5–8+ years of structural engineering experience PE license required; SE license preferred or willingness to obtain Experience designing steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and foundation systems Background working on commercial, residential, institutional, industrial, or public-sector buildings Experience with ETABS, SAP2000, RAM Structural System, RISA, SAFE, Revit, or similar software Knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and Chicago Building Code requirements Strong technical writing, communication, and project coordination skills Base salary of $100,000–$140,000, depending on experience Hybrid work flexibility Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with employer contribution Paid time off and company holidays Professional development and tuition reimbursement PE and SE licensure support Continuing education and leadership development opportunities Clear progression toward project management and technical leadership #J-18808-Ljbffr TYG
