Pay Band: 5 Agency: Dept Behavioral Health/Develop Location: Central State Hospital Agency Website: Recruitment Type: General Public - G Job Duties ** Regular schedule is Monday-Friday, with alternative flexible scheduling options (e.g., four 10-hour shifts) available based on operational needs. ** Central State Hospital is recruiting for a Clinical Psychologist to join our interdisciplinary treatment team and provide high-quality psychological services within a forensic behavioral health setting. The selected candidate will conduct comprehensive psychological assessments, including initial, annual, suicide risk, and specialized forensic evaluations; complete psychological testing reports; and maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with departmental and hospital standards. Responsibilities include active participation in treatment team meetings, consultation regarding patient progress and treatment needs, development and review of individualized treatment plans, and completion of treatment plan review documentation. The Clinical Psychologist will provide individual therapy, supportive counseling, competency restoration services, and facilitate psycho-social rehabilitation groups while ensuring all clinical services are appropriately documented. Additional duties include developing and monitoring behavioral interventions, conducting functional assessments, preparing behavior treatment plans, training staff on intervention implementation, and providing recommendations to enhance patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical and communication skills, professionalism, cultural competence, effective de-escalation techniques, a commitment to least restrictive treatment practices, and dedication to maintaining required licensure, certifications, and continuing education requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Successfully Perform the Job: - Requires knowledge of psychological/therapeutic theory and evidence-based practices. - Requires experience providing psychological services including treatment planning, assessment, and individual/group therapy with adults with serious mental illness. - Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as an ability to work as a collaborative team member. Minimum Qualifications Required: - Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or related field from an accredited college/university required. - Experience providing mental health services to clients with severe mental illness required. - Must be licensed or eligible for licensure as a Clinical Psychologist in Virginia. Additional Considerations Preferred: - Prior experience working in an inpatient psychiatric or behavioral health facility.
