Hospice Volunteer

Employee Type Temporary Part Time Contact information Phone View phone number on click.appcast.io SUMMARY To provide assistance and support without compensation to hospice patient/family/hospice team. May attend IDT conferences as appropriate. Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct care/companionship to patient, reporting any changes to hospice staff. Provide preparation of meals or assist with household chores. Provide a clean, safe and comfortable patient environment. Promote positive, supportive, respectful communication and respite to patient/family. Provide an environment which promotes respect for patient, privacy and property. Administrative Support: Provide clerical support to office staff. Participate in special projects/fund raisers. Professional Volunteer: Provide services according to the rules and standard of practice of their respective disciplines. Participates in the development and presentation of educational programs as appropriate. Fulfills additional performance responsibilities as assigned and as necessary. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications and Experience High School Diploma, preferred. Must be a responsible, detail-oriented individual. Must maintain neat and clean appearance. Must be dependable and have a professional work ethic. Ability to work independently and as a contributing team member. Experience No experience is required. Ability to read and write English. Basic computer skills preferred. Licenses Valid State of Texas Driver’s License with good driving record. Physical Requirements Use hands to grip or feel. Reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to bend, stoop and kneel. Frequently required to stand on one’s feet for a long period of time. Ability to deal effectively with stress. Working Conditions Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset clients, family members, staff, visitors, etc. under all conditions/circumstances. Ability to travel locally with some exposure to unpleasant weather. Requires working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and patient needs, and to make quick decisions and resource acquisition May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc. #J-18808-Ljbffr
