We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a leading employer in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, preparing routine accounting activity, and contributing to a dependable month-end close process. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, comfort working with financial systems and spreadsheets, and a commitment to accuracy in a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate and timely financial records.

• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure balances are properly supported.

• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities by organizing financial data and completing required account analysis.

• Review accounting transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal financial procedures.

• Use Microsoft Excel to analyze account activity, build supporting schedules, and prepare recurring reports.

• Collaborate with internal departments to gather documentation, resolve accounting questions, and support financial reporting needs.

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

• 2-3 years of relevant working experience, performing journal entries in an accounting environment that requires strong attention to detail.

• Working knowledge of general ledger structure and day-to-day accounting processes.

• Ability to complete account reconciliations accurately and on schedule.

• Strong Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize and analyze financial data.

• Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in handling financial information.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal stakeholders.
