CDL Driver

CDL DriverThe Driver position is responsible for safely transporting structural steel materials to various vending and job sites in and around North Carolina. This position involves ensuring the safe loading and unloading of materials while securing them properly for transportation. Drivers will comply with all state, federal, and company regulations to meet safety and quality standards.Essential Functions:Secure materials by means of chaining, strapping, and blocking under strict proceduresPerform pre- and post- trip inspections; inspect the truck for defects and safe operating conditions, before, during, and after delivery tripsReport vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehiclePerform basic vehicle maintenance tasksComplete DOT-required drivers' daily log and trip sheets accuratelyPerforms other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Knowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations/DOT GuidelinesKnowledge of state regulations regarding weight standardsAbility to maintain a clean driver's record and diligent attention to safetyAbility to work safely, wear required PPE, and participate in all safety programsFlatbed experience strongly desiredPhysical Requirements:Be able to work efficiently in varying temperaturesBe able to stand, walk, or climb for long periods of timeHave the ability to lift and handle objects with weight of up to 50 poundsMinimum Qualifications:Valid Class A Commercial Driver License with no restrictions - must be able to drive a manualDOT Physical Examination (medical card) and Drug ScreeningMinimum 2 years' experience operating a tractor-trailer and hauling materials on a flatbed
