Registered Nurse
We are seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical-Surgical unit. The unit consists of 23 beds on one floor and 14 beds on another. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5, with a maximum of 1:7. Common diagnoses include NSTEMI, COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, and acute kidney injury. Nurses are not required to titrate drips. Charge nurses and house supervisors are available on the unit. Patient care technicians are present with a ratio of 1:8. Heat high flow only for respiratory equipment is available on the unit. Telemonitoring is present, with monitoring technicians scheduled to read strips. Registered nurses will need to sign off on strips during their shifts. Shifts are scheduled from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM. Weekend work is typically required every other weekend. Holiday work is also typically required every other holiday. There is a low census occurrence, but no on-call shifts. Floating to different units is required only if the candidate has the necessary experience. Scrub color is flexible, but close-toed shoes and good hygiene are essential. The department provides a specific orientation shift with a binder supplied for details.
