Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing position is located in the region's healthcare facility. The role involves floating among all ICU units, PCU/CCU, and ED holding areas, providing critical care for diverse patient populations including Covid-19 cases, neurotrauma, medical, and surgical patients. The position requires a minimum of one year of ICU experience and offers opportunities to work with a broad spectrum of high-acuity cases, including cardiac, trauma, and post-operative patients.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week. The schedule is typically made for three-week periods, with shifts assigned 7-10 days in advance. Every other weekend is scheduled; back-to-back weekends are rare. No self-scheduling or schedule guarantees. Time off requests exceeding 5 days require manager approval.
• Required Qualifications: Active certifications in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale). Applicants must possess a minimum of 1 year of ICU experience, relevant educational background, and current certification/licensure according to state and facility requirements.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with cardiac rhythm interpretation, ventilator and bipap management, invasive line management, and familiarity with advanced airway management such as traches and chest tubes.
• Support on the Unit: Collaborates with charge nurses, hospitalists, respiratory therapists, and intensivists 24/7. Cardiologists are on call for CVICU responsibilities.
• Charting System: Experience with Epic charting system is required.
• Orientation: One day general hospital orientation, one day of unit orientation (12 hours) on ICU, and one day (12 hours) of orientation on similar units is provided.
• Telemetry Competency: Must be completed and passed prior to start date through SimpliFi Compliance.
• Additional Notes: Scrubs of any color are acceptable. Parking is provided free within designated areas. Clinical responsibilities include hourly rounding, bedside reporting, medication administration with proper verification, and accurate documentation. Saline flushes are considered medication and storage of medications and supplies must follow strict protocols.
