HR Coordinator / Payroll Administrator

Position Overview: The HR Coordinator / Payroll Administrator supports daily HR operations and manages accurate, timely payroll processing. This role serves as a primary resource for employees regarding payroll, benefits, onboarding, HR policies, and personnel records while ensuring compliance with employment and payroll regulations.
Responsibilities:
Payroll Administration
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule.
- Audit timekeeping records and maintain payroll data, including deductions, taxes, garnishments, and direct deposits.
- Administer payroll changes for hires, terminations, promotions, and benefit elections.
- Reconcile payroll data, prepare reports, and resolve employee payroll inquiries.
- Ensure compliance with payroll laws and assist with year-end processing, W-2s, audits, and reporting.
Human Resources Administration
- Coordinate recruiting, onboarding, and new hire orientation.
- Maintain personnel files, HRIS records, and employee documentation.
- Support benefits administration, employee communications, training, and compliance tracking.
- Process employee status changes and assist with performance management and engagement initiatives.
- Communicate HR policies and maintain confidentiality of employee information.
Compliance & Recordkeeping
- Maintain accurate HR and payroll records in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Support audits, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and leave administration.
- Ensure adherence to company policies and employment laws.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Associate's degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, or related field preferred; bachelor's degree desirable.
- 2-5 years of payroll and HR administration experience.
- Experience with payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and timekeeping software.
- Working knowledge of payroll regulations and employment laws.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong payroll, HR, and employee relations knowledge.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organizational, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
Preferred Certifications
- PHR, SHRM-CP, FPC, or CPP preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged sitting and computer work.
- Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds.
- Professional, well-groomed personal appearance
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license
- Willing to submit and pass a pre-employment drug screen
