Quality Control Technician

The Quality Control Technician evaluates finished products for quality and compliance with product specifications within a food manufacturing environment. This role conducts analytical tests, documents results accurately, and communicates quality issues to production and support teams to ensure products meet internal standards and customer expectations. The technician supports investigations into non-conforming products, maintains quality records, and helps uphold food safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and safety standards across production lines.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate finished products to ensure they meet established quality standards and product specifications.
• Perform all required quality analyses and tests according to documented product specifications and procedures.
• Communicate product quality issues promptly to production supervisors, production managers, quality control leadership, shipping, and customer service staff.
• Log all analysis test results and batch information accurately in the I-Series (AS400) system and maintain all analysis records and documentation required for compliance.
• Monitor production line equipment for proper functionality, safety, and cleanliness, and report any issues as needed.
• Check metal detectors, magnets, and scales as critical control points (CCP), and perform CCP and GMP audits to support food safety programs.
• Assist in investigations involving foreign materials and product non-conformance, including identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions.
• Perform batch set-up checks, assist in correcting set-up issues, and document discrepancies in accordance with procedures.
• Place product on hold when quality or safety concerns arise and release product when appropriate criteria are met.
• Reject non-conforming product as necessary and complete rejection forms, including root cause and corrective action analysis.
• Check allergen clean-out effectiveness as needed to support allergen control programs.
• Perform pre-operational (Pre-Op) audits when required, such as after equipment maintenance or downtime, to ensure readiness for production.
• Conduct production scale checks and perform lab equipment calibration based on the established calibration schedule.
• Collect microbiological samples as needed and place associated products on micro hold according to procedures.
• Maintain and organize the retain sample area and control sample files to ensure traceability and compliance.
• Perform special tasks and projects as assigned to support the quality control function and overall production needs.
• Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and safety procedures at all times to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma
• 1+ Years of Quality Control Experience in the Food/Beverage Industry

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.50 - $22.55/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
