JOB SUMMARY The truck driver is responsible for safely and efficiently driving, loading, transporting and unloading raw materials or products from vendor locations to production plants or customers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Performs daily vehicle pre-trip safety inspection according to company guidelines. Maintains truck maintenance, fluid and fuel levels as needed and assists maintenance with repairs. Reports any vehicle mechanical problems on a timely basis to fleet maintenance. Follows written and oral instruction from Dispatch to determine the quantity and location of raw materials or products to be loaded, transported and unloaded each day. Exercises good judgment regarding work site access and unloading operations to and from work sites. Ensures materials or products loaded are the correct quantity and within acceptable specifications. Maintains good customer relations by acting professionally and courteously. Continuously follows all safety rules and works in a safe, efficient manner. Completes required paperwork timely and accurately. Maintains communication with Dispatch using Trackit and mobile telephone to advise of questions, problems or issues. Maintains a neat and professional personal appearance. Keeps the interior and exterior of the truck clean and free of clutter, regularly removing road film and excess raw material from exterior surfaces. Follows established company policies and guidelines for safety, quality and service. Operates light and heavy equipment (Loader, Moffett) as needed. Wears personal protective equipment as needed or required. Maintains a good Drive Cam record. Works regular, reliable attendance at the worksite or assigned work location. Assumes additional duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed. QUALIFICATIONS Must possess a minimum of two years’ verifiable Class A tractor-trailer experience. Class A CDL license. Experience in hauling raw material or flat bed. Clean and safe driving record. An active DOT qualification. Ability to perform well in a "TEAM" environment. Self-motivated, organized and able to work without direct supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude that fosters effective relationships. Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching. Ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels. Ability to tolerate working at heights up to 12 feet. Ability to work near, around or on light or heavy equipment. Willingness to work nights, overtime and weekends as required. Ability to obtain a forklift certification. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, peripheral, depth, ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors. Work up to 16 hours, with a maximum driving time per day of 11 hours, and according to DOT Hours of Service Regulations. Lifts objects of various dimensions and up to 100 lbs. of weight frequently. Repeats climbing stairs and ladders. Repeats balancing, bending from the trunk, crawling, kneeling, pushing and pulling objects. Uses vibration tools frequently. Tolerates working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions. Repeatedly reaches, squats and tolerates prolonged standing, walking or sitting. Walks on uneven surfaces.
