Facilities Technician

Job Title: Facilities Technician Department: Facilities and Fleet Reports To: Maintenance Foreman Classification: Part‑Time, Non‑Exempt Compensation Range: $16.00 per hour, 20 hours per week Position Summary The Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of county parks, facilities, and public spaces. This position performs routine custodial and grounds maintenance duties, including cleaning and restocking restrooms, collecting litter, monitoring facility conditions, and reporting maintenance concerns. The employee operates county vehicles to travel between work sites and assists in ensuring county properties remain safe, functional, and welcoming for residents and visitors. Essential Functions Keep Things Moving: Safely drive a county vehicle between local job sites and service areas Maintain Facilities: Clean, disinfect, and restock community restrooms to keep them sanitary and welcoming Freshen the Grounds: Gather trash and clear litter from the property perimeter to keep our outdoor spaces presentable Stay Safe & Report: Follow traffic laws, maintain your work vehicle, and immediately report any maintenance hazards to your supervisor Requirements Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record A strong work ethic, reliability, and the ability to work independently Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions and performing physical tasks Hazard Notice Chemical exposure Slips, trips or falls Driving Repetitive motion Physical Activity & Work Environment Prolonged periods of standing or walking Frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, or climbing Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Pushing, pulling, or moving objects Repetitive motions Ability to climb stairs, ladders, or work at heights Ability to operate motor vehicles and/or machinery Exposure to varying outdoor weather conditions Exposure to fumes, chemicals, or hazardous materials Occasional travel to offsite locations or satellite facilities Exposure to bodily fluids, communicable diseases, or biohazards (for healthcare/public safety roles) EOE Statement Lake County is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
