General Superintendent- Chicagoland Projects

• Location: Downtown Chicago HQ | Projects across Chicagoland
• Compensation: $175,000 – $200,000 base + bonus/benefits

A well-established Chicago General Contractor is looking to add a General Superintendent to oversee field operations across a strong pipeline of local Chicagoland projects.

This role will oversee a diverse mix of work including multifamily, commercial, retail, entertainment, hotels, and hospitality projects throughout the Chicagoland area. Project scopes may include ground-up developments, large-scale renovations, adaptive reuse, interior build-outs, amenity spaces, restaurant/retail build-outs, hospitality upgrades, and complex occupied-site work.

The company is headquartered in Downtown Chicago, with projects located across the Chicagoland area, offering long-term stability without extensive travel.

Project Types

• The General Superintendent will support field operations across projects such as:
• Multifamily: Ground-up apartment buildings, mixed-use residential developments, amenity spaces, lobbies, corridors, and unit renovations.
• Commercial: Office build-outs, repositioning projects, core and shell work, tenant improvements, and building renovations.
• Retail: High-end retail spaces, shopping center improvements, boutique storefronts, flagship spaces, and fast-paced tenant build-outs.
• Entertainment: Event spaces, sports and entertainment venues, experiential spaces, theaters, clubs, and high-traffic public-facing environments.
• Hotels & Hospitality: Hotel renovations, ground-up hospitality projects, lobby upgrades, guest rooms, restaurants, bars, lounges, and luxury amenity spaces.

The Role

• The General Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing field operations across multiple active projects, supporting Superintendents, ensuring schedules are maintained, and making sure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
• You’ll work closely with Project Executives, Project Managers, ownership, and field teams to keep projects moving, solve issues before they become problems, and continue building a strong field culture.

Ideal Background

• 10+ years of commercial construction field leadership experience.
• Previous experience as a Senior Superintendent, General Superintendent, Field Operations Manager, or similar.
• Strong background across multifamily, commercial, retail, entertainment, hotel, or hospitality projects.
• Experience overseeing multiple projects or multiple Superintendents at once.
• Strong scheduling, logistics, subcontractor coordination, and problem-solving ability.
• Proven leadership style with the ability to mentor, coach, and hold teams accountable.
• Chicago / Chicagoland construction experience strongly preferred.
