Job Summary The Department of Radiology at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health seeks a dedicated, hardworking, and self‑motivated CT Technologist to advance both clinical care and imaging‑based research. The role, part of the WIMR Imaging Medical Services team, translates innovative CT imaging science into high‑quality patient care, supporting UW Radiology’s mission of discovery, education, and clinical excellence. The CT Technologist will perform daily research and standard‑of‑care clinical CT examinations, support advanced CT imaging protocols, manage data for CT research studies, educate and train researchers on scanner operations, assist with research billing and documentation, and ensure compliance with radiation safety, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies. Collaboration with faculty, investigators, and clinical teams is essential to provide safe, efficient, and high‑quality imaging across both clinical and research environments. Additional Job Details Work is performed onsite at a designated campus location. Typical hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; shifts may vary to meet departmental needs. Position identified as one of trust; caregiver check required each two years. Titles considered: Instrumentation Technologist I or II, based on experience and qualifications. Key Job Responsibilities Answer questions and provide technical information regarding instrumentation to staff, researchers, clients, and students. Develop, integrate, test, and modify sophisticated scientific equipment to support research/clinical initiatives. Assist with preparation of grant proposals and applicable documentation. Design, plan, and perform preventative and reactive maintenance on equipment. Investigate new research processes and technology solutions in collaboration with clinical staff, researchers, and clients. Provide technical expertise in installation and use of equipment and instruments. Conduct daily research and clinical CT procedures while maintaining compliance with radiation safety regulations, research policies, and HIPAA guidelines. Department School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Radiology, PET/CT Research Services Compensation and Benefits Starting salary: $68,000 (Instrumentation Technologist I) or $79,000 (Instrumentation Technologist II). Pay is based on experience and qualifications at hire. Employees may expect generous vacation, holidays, sick leave, competitive insurances, savings accounts, and retirement benefits. Additional information on benefits is available on the campus benefits page. Position eligible for a hiring bonus of $5,000. Required Qualifications At least 1 year of Clinical CT experience. Certification as ARRT‑R and ARRT‑CT Radiography or equivalent; or NMTCB (CNMT) and ARRT‑CT; or ARRT‑R. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider qualification. Licensed radiographer with the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services. *Documentation of certifications and state licensing is required upon hire; ongoing compliance is mandatory.
