\nThis position is for an engineer with strong AutoCAD skills and a detail-oriented approach to engineering documentation. You will serve as the Technical Data Package (TDP) lead for Machinery Control Systems (MCS), Repair Station Consoles (RSC), and Engine Controllers (EC) on the DDG-51 Modernization (MOD) and related Tech Refresh (TR) programs.\n
\n
\nThis is a high-ownership role. You will independently manage configuration baselines, produce installation drawings, maintain tracking databases, coordinate across multiple engineering teams and government stakeholders, and occasionally travel to ships to verify legacy configurations firsthand. You will work in direct support of the NSWCPD Code 552 DDG MCS Waterfront Engineering team. Training and mentorship on program-specific processes will be provided, but candidates should be comfortable taking ownership of deliverables and driving tasks to completion with minimal supervision.\n

Job Duties & Responsibilities: \n
\n
Technical Data Package Development and Ownership \n
\n

\n
• Create electrical block installation drawings in AutoCAD as part of TDPs across multiple ship alterations, serving as MCS's design input to shipbuilder BIW for generation of Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs).
\n
• Produce and maintain TDPs spanning multiple DDG hulls across Flight I, Flight II, and Flight IIA configurations.
\n
• Review ship check data and document legacy baseline hardware and signal cable configurations; verify legacy baselines are correctly captured in NSWC TDPs.
\n
• Update TDP drawings based on ISEA review comments and ship check findings.
\n

Shipboard Verification and Travel \n
\n

\n
• Support ownership and execution of the shipboard legacy configuration verification test procedure during TDY ship check trips.
\n
• Conduct on-site verification of legacy MCS configuration prior to modernization.
\n
• Document discrepancies in TDP updates or Wire Discrepancy Lists (WDL) submitted as part of the SOW package.
\n

\n
Cross-Functional Coordination \n
\n

\n
• Coordinate technical data exchange between BIW Planning Yard and ISEAs; attend bi-weekly coordination meetings with NSWCPD Program Management and Waterfront Engineering.
\n
• Manage the Waterfront Engineering task tracking dashboard and host biweekly status meetings with MCS, EC, and RSC ISEAs to review open action items and drive task completion.
\n
• Coordinate ISEA review of TDP packages and AIT Statement of Work; verify associated LARs are correctly captured.
\n
• Integrate and review Vendor Installation Control Drawings (ICDs) and verify baseline information on Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs).
\n

\nRequired Qualifications\n
\n
\nBachelor of Science Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering is required; no equivalencies or experience substitutions will be considered.\n
\n

\n
• 1-3 years of experience in AutoCAD and engineering drawing review.
\n
• Proficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to create and modify electrical block installation drawings.
\n
• Strong attention to detail for reviewing and verifying complex engineering configurations across multiple ship variants.
\n
• Ability to manage and track large volumes of technical documentation (thousands of LARs, multiple TDPs, wire lists).
\n
• Strong organizational and coordination skills - you will manage deliverables across multiple ISEAs, program offices, and shipbuilders simultaneously.
\n
• Effective written and verbal communication skills; comfortable hosting meetings and driving action item closure.
\n
• Self-motivated with the ability to take ownership of deliverables and work independently.
\n
• Basic technical writing ability for reports, wire discrepancy lists, and test procedures.
\n

• Familiarity with Navy or DoD technical documentation standards (MIL-STD, NAVSEA drawing practices).

• Experience with configuration management, engineering change control, or Liaison Action Report processes.
\n
• Experience with Microsoft Access or database tools for tracking and reporting.
\n
• Familiarity with shipboard machinery control systems, propulsion plant configurations, or HM&E systems.
\n
• Prior experience working in a Planning Yard, ISEA, or shipyard engineering environment.
\n
• Experience conducting shipboard inspections or ship checks.
\n

WORK LOCATION AND SCHEDULE: \n
\n

\n
• This role includes a structured 6-month onboarding period at our Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) to ensure thorough training on program systems, ship configurations, and documentation processes (100% onsite).
\n
• After onboarding, a hybrid schedule may be available depending on program needs (minimum 50% onsite at LBES).
\n
• TDY travel to ships and naval installations required (approximately 1-2 trips per year).
\n

\nWhen activated for onsite work, employees working in naval industrial environments, whether shipboard or pierside, must meet certain physical requirements to safely perform essential job functions. Individuals must be capable of standing and walking for extended periods, often on uneven, wet, or slippery surfaces, and must be able to climb vertical ladders, stairs, and steep inclines while carrying tools or equipment. The position may require the ability to work in confined spaces with limited ventilation and restricted movement, including crawling through narrow passageways and working in overhead or below-deck areas. Workers must possess sufficient manual dexterity and grip strength to operate hand and power tools, manipulate controls, and handle materials weighing up to fifty pounds on a regular basis. Adequate vision is necessary to read technical manuals, identify color-coded systems, and detect safety hazards, while hearing capability must be sufficient to perceive warning signals, alarms, and verbal communications in noisy environments, with or without hearing protection. \nCompensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.\n
