Job Description
### Join Our Dynamic Nursing Team in an Intermediate Care Unit!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12H Day/Night Rotate
- Location: Must be within a 50-mile radius
- License Requirement: Unexpired driver's license must be included in submissions

Unit Details:
- Unit: Intermediate Care Unit
- Beds: 30 (14 Private & 16 Semi-private)

Qualifications:
- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS

Patient Ratios:
- The goal is 1:4, typically running 1:5
- Occasionally may be 1:6

EMR System:
- Sunrise

Leadership Support:
- Charge Nurses take full patient assignments on both day & night shifts
- Clinical Assistant works 2, 12-hour shifts on the floor with patient assignments and 2, 8-hour shifts in the office

Support Staff:
- 2-3 CNA's with a ratio of 1:10-12

Weekend Requirements:
- Fri/Sat/Sun are all considered weekend shifts
- Nights require 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
- Days require at least 3 night shifts for those who usually work straight days

Holidays:
- Flexibility is necessary for holiday scheduling, but shifts are typically covered by permanent staff

Scrub Colors:
- Navy blue top & bottom, navy scrub jackets (no hoodies)

Telemetry Monitoring:
- Telemetry Techs available, but RNs must be comfortable reading & interpreting strips

Drip Management:
- RNs must be able to titrate: Amiodarone, Cardizem, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Labetolol, Nitro, & Heparin

Respiratory Support:
- All respiratory equipment managed by RT
- RT in-house 24/7

Additional Resources:
- Hospitalists and Intensivists in-house 24/7
- IV Team available 24/7; they handle all IV starts

Shifts Setup:
- Must be on the unit by 6:45 am/pm, with shifts running from 7 am - 7 pm
- Self-scheduling permitted as long as unit needs are met
- Allowed 4 requested days off per month

Floating Policy:
- All staff may float into Tele or MedSurg with ratios possibly up to 1:6 or 1:7

Orientation:
- First day: 4 hours with HR, followed by 8 hours on the unit with a preceptor
- Second day: 8 hours on the unit with a preceptor before independent work

Common Diagnoses:
- Chest pain, r/o MI, CHF, Arrhythmias, post pacer, pre/post caths, managing radial bands, and other intermediate care acuity patients

Cancellation Policy:
- 2 shifts per 13-week contract; strict attendance policies
- Proper protocol required for emergencies

Charting System:
- EPIC

Education:
- BSN required: False
