Senior Staff Data Engineer

Salary: $225,000 - 290,000 per year Requirements:

• We need extensive experience designing and operating scalable data platforms with a focus on reliability, data quality, and observability.
• We need experience using AI tools and methods to design and implement solutions.
• We need deep expertise in data architecture, including data modeling, pipeline design, and distributed data systems.
• We need a proven ability to define and roll out data quality frameworks, including SLAs, data contracts, and governance standards.
• We need strong experience building SLI/SLO frameworks, monitoring, and alerting for large-scale data environments.
• We need demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional technical initiatives and align stakeholders.
• We need experience establishing and scaling engineering best practices, including testing, CI/CD, and development standards for data systems.
• Preferred: experience building or evolving data platforms in high-growth or heavily regulated environments such as fintech, payments, or crypto.
• Preferred: familiarity with modern data tooling ecosystems, including orchestration, transformation, metadata, and observability platforms.
• Preferred: experience with tools such as Astronomer (Airflow), BigQuery, dbt, Dataplex, Kubernetes, and languages like Python or Go, or similar modern data stack technologies.
• Preferred: a track record of influencing platform strategy, including build-versus-buy decisions and long-term architectural evolution.

• We implement organization-wide data quality standards, including SLAs, data contracts, and governance frameworks across domains.
• We design and scale reliability and observability frameworks, including SLI/SLO models, lineage tracking, monitoring, and alerting patterns.
• We establish and evolve incident management practices, including severity models, escalation paths, on-call structures, and blameless postmortems.
• We develop and standardize data engineering SDLC practices, including testing strategies, CI/CD, versioning, and reusable frameworks.
• We drive cross-functional prioritization of reliability initiatives, balancing technical debt, operational health, and product delivery.
• We lead ecosystem-wide platform improvements by identifying architectural gaps, reducing fragmentation, and guiding build-versus-buy decisions.
• We own and deliver complex, high-impact data initiatives while aligning stakeholders and mitigating risk.
