Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education and an active Special Education Teacher license An understanding of teaching and the duties of a teacher as an educational leader Eligibility to hold a valid instructional certificate issued by the Arkansas Department of Education Any alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable and reasonable Reports To Principal Job Goals To plan for and administer the instructional program and classroom operation in compliance with instructions of the administration, relevant laws, state and federal regulations, and Board of Education policies. Essential Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities Demonstrates a high regard for confidential and sensitive information Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA) and classroom maintenance procedures Provides case‑management services for students with a disability including IEP development, provision, and compliance Assists with the evaluation process to determine eligibility Provides instruction consistent with the student’s IEP, using strategies, methods, and materials appropriate to the learner’s abilities, needs, and learning style Maintains all aspects of confidentiality related to FERPA Administers assessments to evaluate skill level, progress, and achievement Administers alternate assessments to students Ensures that all required roles per IDEA are filled at every IEP meeting Develops materials and behavioral management strategies for effective learning Develops and revises IEPs and Behavior Intervention Plans as needed Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to the maturity and skill level of the students Plans and prepares lessons to meet and exceed state standards Sets and maintains classroom behavior standards using various strategies Uses differentiated instructional techniques consistent with student needs and capabilities Guides the learning process through clear goals and objectives to meet student and district goals Maintains accurate and complete records per federal, state, and district regulations Coordinates and schedules timely IEP meetings with related service providers Works with regular education staff to implement accommodations and modifications When assigned an instructional assistant, plans and supervises their assignments and activities Recommends adapted equipment or alternatives to promote student success Consults with parents, staff, and outside agencies as appropriate Identifies and requests materials, supplies, and equipment for IEP goals within timelines Attends required department and district in‑services and campus meetings Modifies the general education curriculum, if appropriate, with general education staff Selects appropriate instructional goals based on student needs Is willing to work with students with different disabilities and instructional needs Provides tailored instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs Develops, implements, and monitors individualized education plans (IEPs) Additional Job Functions Regularly monitor district email for pertinent communication and respond promptly Submit all required data and information Attend meetings scheduled by supervisors and district administrators Complete requested paperwork Be proficient with basic workplace technology Prioritize safety, ensuring doors and windows are locked as needed Maintain awareness of the district’s crisis management plan Model a high standard of professional excellence in school, community, and social media Maintain a positive attitude and a vision of growth and support for the district Perform other duties as assigned Physical Demands Frequent travel to district offices and classrooms Frequent walking throughout various buildings Moderate lifting and carrying of 15–30 pounds Often sitting at a desk for extended periods Limited standing periods Manual dexterity for office equipment use Repetitive finger and hand movements for keyboarding Maintain emotional control and exercise reasoning and problem‑solving under stress Ability to move students or equipment up to 50 lbs., position students in specialized equipment, and assist with personal care Perform all duties safely and observe all safety precautions Evaluation Criteria Performance evaluated per Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified personnel Position Type: Full‑Time Salary: $50,000 Per Year Contact Information Samuel Slott, Superintendent Central Office Phone: View phone number on click.appcast.io Email: View email address on click.appcast.io #J-18808-Ljbffr
