This position provides administrative and patient support services within VA outpatient clinics, patient call centers, and administrative departments.ResponsibilitiesSchedule, cancel, and reschedule patient appointmentsAnswer phones and provide excellent customer serviceRegister and greet VeteransMaintain accurate electronic medical recordsScan medical documents into the EMRProcess consults and referralsCoordinate community care appointmentsSupport eligibility, enrollment, and travel reimbursement functionsPerform general administrative and clerical dutiesMinimum QualificationsU.S. CitizenHigh school diploma or equivalent (additional education may substitute for experience)At least 6 months of clerical, administrative, customer service, or medical office experienceTyping speed of approximately 40 WPMStrong computer skillsExcellent communication and customer service skillsAbility to obtain a VA background investigation, fingerprinting, and security clearancePreferredMedical office or healthcare administrative experienceExperience with EMR systemsVA or hospital scheduling experienceBenefitsMonday–Friday scheduleFederal holidays observedOpportunity to support our nation's VeteransPotential telework opportunities if authorized by the VA and position requirements
