Terrain Park Grooming Operator

Freestyle Park Snowcat Operator Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Run PistenBully Park Pro snowcats in challenging parks Work with Terrain Park Manager and Day Crew Supervisor, and Head Groomer to determine grooming and building agenda for each shift Complete nightly maintenance to park features and assist in building new terrain park features including: rails, jumps, boxes, and jibs Manage time wisely, understand grooming patterns, and be able to complete all nightly building and grooming tasks Receive and understand building concept from Head Builder and be able to assist in the construction of a large variety of features Able to shape, reset, and dig out terrain park features in all types of snow conditions Leave a smooth and even groom on all areas within the perimeter of the park including feature take-offs and landings Must be able to carry various types of terrain park features (rails, boxes, wallrides, etc.) on snowcat blade Conduct an inspection of your snowcat before and after each shift to identify mechanical malfunctions of the snowcat and take responsibility for reporting mechanical problems or damage to snowcats to Vehicle Maintenance and Terrain Park Manager Complete preventative maintenance and upkeep and cleaning of Terrain Park snowcat fleet Use equipment properly, observe safety procedures, and keep the safety of our guests, employees, and equipment as the highest priority Cooperate and establish a relationship with other Mountain Operations staff including Snowmaking, Trail Grooming, Vehicle Maintenance and Ski Patrol Supervisory responsibilities: Directly supervises employees in the Freestyle Park Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent Must be 18 years of age or older Valid driver's license Able to work nights and holidays Able to use 2 way radios, sit for extended periods of time while operating, and move and/or lift up to 50 pounds Must be able to identify safe and unsafe feature construction and transitions Experience working in Terrain Parks (1-3 years) Experience operating heavy machines preferred Experience in rail fabrication or welding preferred. Education and/or Experience: High school education and 1- 3 years in park maintenance as a Ranger or 1-2 years prior slope grooming experience (non-terrain park) Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills: No computer skills necessary to perform this job. Other Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age. Advanced Skier/Snowboarder skills. Completion of resort snowmobile operator training. Must have valid Driver's License. Must be able to work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime. Must be able to function effectively at elevations of 10,000 feet or higher. Must be able to function effectively in inclement weather conditions. Capable of riding features built in our Parks. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be extreme when working around heavy equipment, chainsaws, etc. The starting pay rate for this position is $21.00/hr depending on experience.
