Certified Respiratory Therapist

Overview Resurrection Medical Center, a leading healthcare facility in Chicago, IL, is seeking a dedicated Certified Respiratory Therapist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care to adult, geriatric, and pediatric patients in acute and critical care settings. Working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, and other members of the interdisciplinary team, you will assess patients’ pulmonary status, interpret diagnostic data, and implement individualized respiratory care plans that align with current evidence-based practices. Key Responsibilities Perform respiratory assessments. Administer aerosolized medications, oxygen therapy, and chest physiotherapy. Initiate, manage, and wean patients from mechanical ventilation and non‑invasive ventilation. Respond promptly to respiratory emergencies, including rapid response and code blue situations. Perform and interpret basic diagnostic procedures such as arterial blood gas sampling, pulse oximetry, and bedside pulmonary function screening. Document accurately in the electronic medical record and communicate results to the care team. Clinical Monitoring & Education Monitor patients for changes in respiratory status, adjust therapy within established protocols, and elevate concerns to the appropriate provider. Educate patients and families on respiratory conditions, equipment use, and self‑management to support safe transitions of care. Qualifications The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgement, proficiency with ventilators and respiratory equipment, and the ability to remain calm and effective in high‑acuity, fast‑paced environments. Comfort working independently within scope of practice while contributing to a culture of compassion, teamwork, and integrity is required.
