Position Details Position Title: Health Care Technician I (S) Grade: MH01 Description of Work The Health Care Technician I / CNA will support our patients as they work toward the goals and objectives of their individual treatment plans. This position manages the milieu on each unit through close observation and interaction with all patients. They will assist patients with daily living skills. Additionally, they will also be responsible for carrying out other duties as delegated by and completed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Mandatory Conditions This position is designated as mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events. Shift & Hours Hours are primarily 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM or 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, with an 8‑hour shift scheduled every other week for full‑time (40 hour) staff. A part‑time option (36 hour) is available with prorated salary and benefits. 12‑hour day shifts and 12‑hour night shifts. Holidays, weekends, overtime and flexibility required. Compensation & Shift Premiums Recruitment Range: $35,360.00 – $38,688.00. Sign‑on bonus of $2,000 may be offered to the successful applicant(s) of this posting, contingent on the 2025-2026 Budget Approval. Nights: 20% Weekends: 5% Evenings: 20% Holiday Premium: 50% Eligibility for sign‑on bonus: Employee held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (remaining ineligible for 12 months from the separation date). Employee previously received a sign‑on bonus from any State agency. DHHS paid any contract placement or recruitment fees. Qualifications Candidates meet the minimum qualifications if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. Preferred KSAs / Management Preferences: Basic knowledge of a variety of psychiatric, medical and/or other related conditions. Basic knowledge of nurse aide skills. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, staff and others. Ability to maintain professional and even‑tempered demeanor and work relationships. Minimum Education and Experience High school or GED diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special condition for continued employment as required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. About the Facility JFK is a 68‑bed inpatient treatment facility designed to meet the needs of adults with substance use disorders from the 44 westernmost counties in North Carolina. The facility treats individuals with substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses. JFK is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations as a Behavioral Health facility and certified by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services as an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
