Job Summary:
The registered nurse specializing in the cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) is based in Madison, Wisconsin. This position involves providing advanced nursing care for adult patients requiring specialized treatment for cardiac and thoracic surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and complex medical device management. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details:

• Location: Madison, WI
• Specialty: Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH)
• Shift: Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 1900 to 0730, with every other weekend and some holidays, no call
• Schedule: Minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: WI Registered Nurse (RN) license, ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), at least two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty submitted to, travel experience, and prior CVICU experience
• Additional Qualifications: Experience in a cardiothoracic surgery and/or acuity adaptable area preferred, current flu vaccination (medical or religious exemptions only), and passing a telemetry exam prior to start (with two attempts, scoring at least 80%)
• Responsibilities include: Managing arterial lines, central venous pressure monitoring, chest tube management, ventilator management, administration of emergency medications, cardiac device management (Impella, intra-aortic balloon pump, ventricular assist devices), and performing advanced assessments and procedures related to cardiac and thoracic critical care.
• Additional Information: The unit features a dynamic environment with 27 private ICU rooms, a multidisciplinary team, and frequent patient transfers and procedures. The nurse will be expected to float as needed within the organization.
