The Chiller Technicians install, modify and repair refrigeration systems such as: hermetic, semi-hermetic, screw and scroll units to 500 tons; air conditioning; VAV and ventilation; VRF systems; CRAC units; geo-thermal; reversible chillers; air and water-cooled chillers; process coolers; ice machines; evaporative cooling; air compressing and related control systems, including pneumatic, DDC, and building control systems equipment. This person performs advanced installation tasks involving assembly, testing, calibrating, and adjusting of temperature control and environmental control systems such as air conditioning plants, air environmental control systems, air distribution systems and complex dual equipment cooling installations, specialized refrigerated warehouses and facilities and dehumidification systems.Additionally, the HVAC Chiller Technician installs new or repaired components and performs complex modifications of systems and components in accordance with applicable electrical publications and directives, and will maintain and repair specialized equipment such as DOAS; MAU and Pool Pak systems. This mechanic may perform complex repair of systems component such as compressors, condensers, heat pumps, fluid and refrigerant gas lines, valves, meters, gages, thermostats, pumps, mechanical linkage, electrical components, switching and controlling devices including pneumatic controls, variable speed drives, digital controlled devices, hydronic heating, cooling and economizer systemsTOTAL COMPENSATION PACKAGE $59.97per hour! $44.72/hr. plus $15.25 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!ALL the fantastic benefits you receive as an employee of EMI below!!Diagnose and repair various refrigerant systems to include; Variable Refrigerant Flow Systems, Chillers, Reversible Chillers, CRAC UnitsCut and bend tubing to correct length and shape, using cutting and bending equipment and tools, cuts and threads pipe, using machine-threading or hand-threading equipment. Joins tubing or pipes to various refrigerating units by means of sleeves, couplings or unions, and solders joints, using torch, forming complete circuit for refrigerant, installs various refrigerant valves in circuit(s)Tests joints and connections in refrigerant piping for leaks using leak detector, verifies leak free using vacuum pump and vacuum hold testTest and verify proper operation of components, connects motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls and ventilation fansReplace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and electrical wiring to repair installed unitsAdds/removes freon to refrigerant systems to achieve proper subcooling and superheatObserve pressure and vacuum gauges and adjust controls to insure proper operationWrap pipes in insulation batting and secure them in place with cement or wire bandsInstall, repair and service air conditioners, ranging up to 500 tons cooling capacity in warehouses, barracks and commercial buildingsPrepare work orders and cost materials estimatesAssist in training lower-level workers in mechanical repair techniques.Knowledge and proficiency of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of commercial and industrial grade HVAC equipmentRequired to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
