Cyber Security Analyst

Job Description Positions focused on leading, advancing, developing, and applying science, technology, engineering, information technology, and research and development to anticipate, innovate, and deliver solutions to Laboratory missions. These positions may involve discovery, design, and development of innovative solutions that advance the state of the art. Positions within the Science and Engineering Career Band typically require a university degree and equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles and concepts. Responsibilities Use basic logic and common sense to arrive at solutions. Develop partnerships with internal team members. Communicate well in straight‑forward situations. Understand one's own job and how the role interacts with the team. Be knowledgeable about their specific job. Gain support for ideas within the team. Work effectively within the immediate work team. Mentor and/or train subordinates without formally managing employees. Implement changes provided by management. Complete routine and repetitive tasks when they are straightforward. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or a related field. 0–3 years of relevant experience. At least one general cybersecurity certification and one technical certification. Technical skills including understanding of security architectures, encryption, firewalls, IDS/IPS, network security protocols, and application of STIGs. Experience and proficiency with cyber tools for vulnerability assessments, SEIM, endpoint protection, and security frameworks. Strong understanding of risk management and familiarity with cloud security principles. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, ability to multi‑task, and to collaborate in a team environment. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. U.S. citizenship is legally required. Preferred Qualifications Understanding of the NIST Risk Management Framework and Control Sets (e.g., NIST 800‑37 and NIST 800‑53). Current or former experience with DOE cybersecurity or a federal‑contractor cybersecurity technical position. Experience with zero‑trust architecture. Ability to learn new technologies, concepts, and processes quickly. Splunk or Tenable certifications. Benefits Benefits vary based upon employment status.
