RN Medical-Surgical Telemetry Float

Job Summary:

The Level II Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg Float is responsible for providing competent nursing care on medical-surgical units with telemetry experience. Under the direction of the Nurse Manager, this role includes clinical practice, service excellence, professional development, and participation in research and evidence-based practice. The nurse may also assume expanded responsibilities such as charge nurse, preceptor, and committee member. The position requires working rotating day, evening, and night shifts including every other weekend, holidays, on-call, and callback as needed. Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license valid in New York State only.
• Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience, preferably in medical-surgical and telemetry units.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Telemetry nursing experience.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and patient care planning skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, rotating shift environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience serving in charge nurse or preceptor roles.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, preferably EPIC.
• Participation in nursing committees or quality improvement initiatives.

Special Considerations:

• Rotating shifts including day, evening, and night shifts.
• Every other weekend (EOW) work requirement.
• Holidays, on-call, and callback duties as needed by unit staffing.
• No straight shift schedules available.
• Must be able to comply with return-to-office (RTO) policies if applicable.

Scheduling:

• Rotating schedule covering day, evening, and night shifts.
• Shift assignments vary based on unit needs and staffing requirements.
• Work every other weekend and assigned holidays.
• On-call and callback shifts assigned as needed.
