Senior Refrigeration Mechanic - Mayo Correctional Institution
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Mayo Correctional Institution in the Maintenance Department. The mission of Facilities Management and Building Construction at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide a safe, secure, and efficient environment for staff, inmates, and visitors. This is achieved through the effective management, maintenance, and construction of correctional facilities, ensuring they meet all regulatory standards and support the department's overall mission of public safety and rehabilitation.
Job Duties:
- Installation and repair of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration components and associated systems, food service equipment necessary to operate a major institution.
- On-the-job training to those inmates he/she supervises in HVAC and associated systems.
- Technical preventive maintenance on various HVAC systems.
- Tasks related to HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building preventive maintenance.
- Maintains custody and control of supervised inmates, prepares progress reports for their rehabilitation, and participates in required departmental staff training.

Requirements:
- A high school diploma or its equivalent and at least one (1) year of experience in the HVAC Field OR four or more years of experience in the HVAC Field (College or vocational/technical training in one of the above listed trades can substitute for the required experience).
- A valid Driver's License is also required.
