Job Summary

The Senior Electrical Engineer Data Center is responsible for supporting electrical engineering projects using AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM while developing flexible solutions to meet client requirements. The role requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work with ambiguous project scopes, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment while safely delivering projects that meet or exceed client expectations. The role also requires strong written and verbal communication skills to interact directly with clients, including many of the top companies within the Data Center industry.

Job Description

• Lead efforts to deliver detailed design of large-scale data center environments while following all company, client, and project design requirements; may involve leading teams dedicated to these designs
• Lead and communicate design options with clients
• Articulate and provide recommendations that align with the client’s resiliency and redundancy requirements
• Work closely with engineering project teams and field personnel to complete and review projects on scope, budget, and schedule
• Incorporate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into physical design and layouts
• Possess a willingness to function in multiple job roles simultaneously
• Provide guidance and insight into design risk factors for redundancy and resiliency
• Conduct field surveys, drawings, and other data to assess conditions of existing facilities and develop summary reports
• Prepare and/or review technical drawings to ensure that installations and designs conform to standards and customer requirements
• Review drawing and modeling production work, including problem analysis
• Provide guidance to ensure that designs comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements
• Compile data and create engineering studies and reports
• Perform detailed calculations as needed by the project
• Mentor, provide guidance, and supervise junior-level engineers and designers
• Provide training for other technical personnel
• Coordinate with internal and external clients to determine proper requirements for projects
• Professional written and verbal communication skills and strong analytical and problem-solving skills are imperative to success in this position

Skills Required

• Previous experience within Data Centers
• Minimum of 11 years of related work experience
• Previous experience with hyperscale data centers of at least 40 MW
• Demonstrated understanding of design risk factors for redundancy and resiliency
• Understanding of design differences in hyperscale, edge, and colocation data centers
• Possesses proficiency in 3D modeling as well as managing and creating complex families with custom parameters within Autodesk Revit
• Familiarity with Data Center tier rating systems
• Strong knowledge of Autodesk Revit
• Experience utilizing BIM 360, Navisworks, Revit worksets, view templates, and project phasing
• Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment
• Self-motivated to deliver results when given a deadline
• Attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities simultaneously
• Demonstrated ability to analyze and leverage data and metrics to challenge current assumptions
• Sound, professional communication skills to engage in client-facing activities
• Ability to lead projects, including management of project schedules, budgets, and staffing
• Support business development, including developing scope-of-work, level-of-effort, and site visits to understand the scope of the pursuit

Education/Training/Certifications

• A bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program in the professional's home country or the country where they practice is required

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to pass a criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search
• Preferred: PE license
• Most positions - depending on the nature of work performed as defined by the division - will typically require incumbents to have professional registration or licensure in their designated home office country, or be in active pursuit
• Onsite - 5 days/week
• Travel:  Up to 5% for client office meetings; no direct field site travel expected
