Custodian

Custodian Position

The custodian performs a variety of housekeeping duties to maintain the center in a sanitary, orderly, and attractive condition. Responsibilities and duties include:

• Thoroughly clean all center areas, including classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and any other common areas within the facility according to the NAECY standards provided by the Center Director.
• Perform functions associated with floor and carpet care, including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, shampooing, spot scrubbing, etc.
• Remove trash from the facility daily.
• Replace paper and soap supplies in restrooms and classrooms as needed.
• Periodically wash walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, and other items to maintain a clean, safe environment for children.
• Maintain an inventory of custodial supplies and equipment.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by the Center or County Director.
• Inform Center Director of any safety concerns within the facility.
• Utilize supplies in an efficient and effective manner to prevent waste.
• Adhere to the CDC Personnel Policies at all times.
• Maintain confidentiality of students/families.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Must possess or obtain required state and federal clearances.
• Proper attendance is required. Employees are expected to arrive on time, every day, able and available to work.
• May require travel to other centers within the county.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand for long periods throughout the day with intermittent periods of sitting, walking, and occasional bending.
• Frequent to occasional lifting of children and/or objects up to 50 pounds.
• Dexterity requirements range from coordinated movements of fingers and hands to simple movements of feet, legs, and torso as necessary to carry out job duties.
