Phenomenex, a Danaher operating company, seeks a Senior Scientist to develop and commercialize clinical sample preparation products and LC-MS/MS workflows. The role combines analytical chemistry expertise with cross-functional collaboration to advance mass spectrometry-based diagnostic solutions in Torrance, California.

Responsibilities

Develop and commercialize clinical sample preparation consumables and LC-MS/MS workflows for research and applied markets
Identify clinical challenges and translate them into practical technical solutions and R&D opportunities
Design, optimize, and troubleshoot sample preparation methods across diverse analytes and biological matrices
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute projects, transfer technology, and deliver products on schedule
Review literature, conduct experiments, prepare technical materials, and support patent filings

Requirements

Master's degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or related field; PhD preferred
3+ years hands-on experience with sample preparation, extraction, enrichment, or quantitative workflow development for complex matrices
Strong expertise in LC-MS/MS and mass spectrometry method development, optimization, and troubleshooting
Experience designing experiments to assess recovery, selectivity, sensitivity, reproducibility, and robustness
Ability to manage multiple R&D projects and communicate scientific findings through reports and presentations
Capability to work safely in laboratory environments with chemicals and hazardous materials

Compensation: $111,500-$135,000 base, plus bonus/incentive pay eligible
