Ophthalmic Assistant

The Ophthalmic Assistant supports the care team in providing high-quality eye care to patients in an outpatient clinic. Working under the supervision of a licensed clinician, this role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on clinical experience while supporting patients throughout their visit. This position is a great opportunity for individuals interested in building experience in a healthcare setting, including those pursuing careers in medicine or other healthcare professions.

No specific license or credential required.

Experience

• Experience in an ophthalmology, healthcare, or patient-facing setting preferred.
• Candidates with transferable experience, including experience gained through clinical training, internships, volunteer work, or other healthcare-related settings, are encouraged to apply.
• 01 year of relevant experience preferred; training will be provided.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Basic understanding of medical terminology or the ability and willingness to learn.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients and families.
• Ability to provide appropriate support to patients across a range of ages and physical and cognitive needs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and adapt in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment within the scope of the role.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, or the ability and willingness to learn new technology and systems.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to providing a positive patient experience.
