Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Orientation and Mobility or Special Education, Certification as a Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS), and 1+ years Orientation and Mobility Specialist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a meaningful impact guiding students to independence as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist working onsite with K-12 learners! This contract position offers the opportunity to support students with visual impairments across various age groups, promoting their confidence and safe travel skills in an educational setting.

Key Qualifications:

• Active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (O&M Specialist) license required
• Proven experience or training working with school-aged children
• Familiarity with a variety of orientation and mobility techniques and tools
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators, families, and other professionals
• Dedication to fostering independence and personalized learning

Responsibilities:

• Provide assessment, direct instruction, and consultation in orientation and mobility to students K-12
• Develop and implement individualized programs to teach travel skills and safe navigation
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure accessibility and program continuity
• Document student progress and maintain accurate records in accordance with school and regulatory standards
• Participate in team meetings and support the overall educational goals for students with visual impairments
• Stay current on best practices and legal requirements within the field
