About the Position

Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – New Jersey

Start Date: September 14, 2026

Location: Southern New Jersey

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts with every other weekend requirement (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). One holiday per contract required. No on-call duties.

Highlights:

• Progressive Care Unit (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown) position with 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio on nights
• Epic electronic medical record system utilized for documentation
• 24 hours of comprehensive orientation provided
• Floating required to similar units only, always within scope of practice
• Collaborative interdisciplinary team including Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Pharmacy, Social Services, and Rapid Response Teams
• Serving adult and geriatric patient populations

Requirements:

• Active New Jersey nursing license or compact state license required at time of application
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown nursing experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with patient ratio of 1:4
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccination not required

Clinical Skills & Competencies:

• Telemetry monitoring (both unit-based and remote), interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Cardiac care including pre/post cardiac catheterization, pacemaker management, and cardiac drip administration
• Advanced airway management: BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy care, ventilated patient care
• Vascular access management: peripheral lines, PICC lines, central lines, port access
• Neurological care: CVA, traumatic brain injury, intracranial bleeds, post-neurosurgery, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury
• Critical procedures: blood product administration, chest tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, wound care/wound vac
• Specialty protocols: heparin protocols, PCA management, arterial blood gas interpretation, isolation precautions
• Additional competencies: phlebotomy, IV initiation and maintenance, feeding tube management, renal failure care, substance withdrawal management
