Staff Mechanical Engineer — End Effectors / Humanoid Robotics Austin, TX | Relocation Package Available A leading humanoid robotics company is hiring a Staff Mechanical Engineer to help lead the design and development of next-generation robotic end effectors for human-scale robots. This role is ideal for a senior mechanical engineer who has designed complex, high-DOF mechanisms for real-world robotic systems. The focus is on end effectors for manipulation including robotic hands, grippers, dexterous mechanisms, tooling interfaces, compliant structures, and contact-rich systems that allow robots to safely and reliably interact with the world. Day to Day Lead mechanical design and architecture for robotic end effectors used on humanoid platforms. Design complex mechanisms such as robotic hands, grippers, fingers, joints, palms, tool interfaces, or multi-DOF manipulation systems. Develop end effectors that balance strength, weight, durability, compliance, compact packaging, and human-safe interaction. Co-design with actuation teams on tendon-driven, cable-driven, remote-actuated, underactuated, or compact transmission systems. Engineer mechanisms for grasping, pinching, holding, sliding, tool use, and other contact-rich manipulation tasks. Own structural analysis, FEA, fatigue analysis, impact analysis, and mechanical validation. Design for high-cycle life and address real-world failure modes such as wear, loosening, fatigue, backlash, and impact damage. Package actuation, sensing, wiring, tactile feedback, and electronics into tight mechanical spaces. Rapidly prototype, test, iterate, and refine designs based on hands-on evaluation and robot-level feedback. Drive DFM/DFA, tolerancing, material selection, supplier engagement, and production scale-up. Partner closely with controls, electrical, software, perception, manufacturing, and test teams. Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and influence architecture decisions across the manipulation system. Strong mechanical design background in robotics, automation, aerospace, automotive, medical devices, consumer hardware, or complex electromechanical systems. Experience designing end effectors , robotic hands, grippers, EOAT, dexterous mechanisms, robotic joints, manipulators, or high-DOF mechanical systems. Deep understanding of mechanisms, load paths, structural design, tolerancing, materials, and failure modes. Strong CAD experience, ideally with SolidWorks, NX, CATIA , or similar tools. Experience with surfacing, complex geometries, compact packaging, or high-density mechanical integration. Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, design iteration, and validation. Experience using FEA and engineering analysis to drive design decisions. Ability to lead technical initiatives, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and make architectural trade-offs. Strong communication skills and comfort operating in a fast-moving robotics environment. B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field. #J-18808-Ljbffr Energize Group
