Infusion Nurse

Job Description Perform nursing activities for home‑infusion patients, supporting each patient with intravenous and nutritional therapies within a home or clinic setting. Duties include assessment, administration, documentation, patient training, and collaboration with the clinical team and physicians. Schedule and Location Varied peri‑diem hours Monday to Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Occasional evening hours may be required. Location: DeWitt, NY. Incumbent may travel within a two‑hour radius of the metro‑area as needed for patient visits. Qualifications Graduate of an N.L.N. accredited school of nursing. Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice. Minimum of one year of experience in IV therapy with a strong background in nutritional support and/or immunoglobulin therapy. Alternate experience: two years in an acute care setting or a three‑month home‑visit apprenticeship with an experienced RN may be accepted. Must possess or acquire a CPR certificate within the first 30 days of employment. Must possess good technical skills and strong knowledge base in clinical nutrition and IV therapy, and must be able to function independently within a team framework. Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Must be dependable in attendance and job performance. Must have a valid driver’s license in the state of employment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in home infusion nursing. Participation and membership in professional societies. Responsibilities Maintain standards and policies set by BioMatrix Specialty Infusion Pharmacy. Perform initial patient evaluation for nursing care per policy. Assist physicians in planning and implementing care for hospital‑to‑home transition. Provide patients/families with education on home infusion therapy. Conduct patient training for self‑management of infusion therapies. Perform home/clinic visits: physical assessment, nutritional assessment, therapeutic monitoring, peripheral IV starts and re‑starts, lab draws via venipuncture or central access. Assess patients’ ability to perform procedures and provide instruction. Perform nursing procedures such as port access, CVC dressing changes, and other relevant tasks. Coordinate product delivery and other equipment (e.g., DME). Maintain thorough documentation in patient records and contact logs. Participate in patient care conferences, special projects, performance improvement, patient safety, infection control, and emergency preparedness programs. Communicate with staff and patients professionally. Work independently or as part of a team. Adhere to policies on patient rights and customer satisfaction. Coordinate care and services required at home beyond IV therapy. Communicate progress to physicians verbally or in writing. Administer IV, IM, SC medications per physician orders and monitor effects. Maintain proficiency in nutritional support and IV therapy through continuing education. Act as a case manager for all nursing and therapy cases. Create clinical records and progress reports for patients as needed. Perform other duties assigned by management. Complete training and orient new RNs; provide ongoing training as needed. Participate in and report on corporate compliance programs. Mentor new RNs in documentation and home‑environment procedures. Computer Skills Maintain proficiency with all programs necessary for the position. Pay Range $45,000 – $60,000 USD per year. Physical Demands Employee may stand, walk, or sit; use hands and arms; reach, climb, balance; occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Requires good vision, color, depth perception, and focus.
