Operations Manager

Position Summary Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day site operations, including supervising warehousing, receiving, and shipping in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. Responsibilities also cover planning inbound/outbound volume, customer communication activities, space utilization & management, equipment management and people management duties such as hiring, training, labor planning, performance appraisals, and resolving issues. Key Responsibilities Ensures the development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products in a safe and profitable manner in accordance with company policies, guidelines, and procedures. Manages operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals and complies with terms outlined in client SLAs. Drives continuous improvement efforts and provides ideas and suggestions for more efficient operations and ongoing cost savings measures. Meets all client specified KPIs and complies with quality system requirements. Manages operations to achieve prescribed objectives and applies sound communication and motivational techniques, creates programs to supervise fairly and equitably, and provides counseling and discipline as needed. Collaborates with Human Resources to create programs for hiring, training and professional development and participates in performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities. Delivers results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time. Effectively informs senior management and client representatives of critical issues that affect operations. Plans the daily work schedule by reviewing existing work orders, arrival notices and instructions from customers; assesses priorities and assigns duties to appropriate warehouse staff. Reviews current volume demands to plan for reorganization of warehouse space and necessary changes in supplies, equipment or staffing. Ensures effective training delivered to team members by qualified individuals and adherence to SOPs (DSV and client). Supports assessment of trainee progress to determine new hire performance and cultural fit. Maintains high degree of motivation in team members to retain focus and provide highest levels of customer satisfaction. Provides ongoing growth and development opportunities for team members. Supports adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Conducts routine staff meetings to review daily/weekly work activities. Ensures team members are proficient in Management Information Systems, including WMS systems, and that necessary computer software/hardware follow Corporate IT policies. Remains knowledgeable about changes in hardware and software technology. Develops proficiency in client systems. Manages high‑level customer service standards for all functions and ensures appropriate contact with all functions and responses to requests when needed. Attends or leads meetings with key customers, coordinates and manages supplier/customer visits to the site, and promotes a positive relationship with clients. Supports budgeting and provides development of an annual operating budget, financial controls and compliance with contract pricing guidelines. Manages equipment and facilities programs for sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety and material handling equipment (MHE); trains staff on MHE usage; stays informed of new technology. Manages safety initiatives to achieve company injury frequency rating and other safety metrics; audits warehouse for compliance with safety, security and quality rules; ensures statutory requirements are adhered to. Works overtime as dictated when required. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Must have a high school diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree is preferred. 7 years of experience in logistics/distribution/relevant environment. 5 years of experience in a supervisory role. Ability to work in unregulated temperatures (warm and cold months can range from mild to moderate). Computer Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Demonstrated proficiency with applicable WMS systems. Language Skills English (reading, writing, verbal). Proficiency in business communication at all levels. Good leadership, supervision and planning skills. Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends. Compensation Expected base pay range: $85,000.00 - $90,000.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, education, certifications and geographic location.
