Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

Job Summary:
The RN - PACU role involves providing specialized postoperative care to patients recovering from surgery. The position requires a dedicated and experienced nurse to manage patient assessments, monitor recovery progress, and ensure safety during the immediate post-anesthesia period.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients' vital signs and overall condition upon arrival in the PACU.
• Monitor patients continuously for signs of pain, bleeding, and other postoperative complications.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure effective patient recovery and discharge planning.
• Document patient status, interventions, and responses accurately in the EMR system.
• Provide exceptional patient and family education regarding recovery processes and post-discharge instructions.

Qualifications:

• Valid RN license with current state licensure.
• Minimum of 2 years of PACU or post-anesthesia care experience.
• Certification in ACLS required; BLS certification also required.
• Demonstrated ability to handle high-pressure situations with clinical competence.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Experience with Meditech electronic health records system preferred.
