Senior Manager Content Editor

Job Summary The Senior Managing Content Editor serves as the strategic leader of Choice Hotels’ editorial content function, responsible for shaping and driving the vision, quality, and performance of written content across Choicehotels.com, brand sites, and third‑party channels. This role oversees a team of writers and editors, elevates editorial excellence, strengthens brand voice consistency, and ensures all content supports organic search, conversion, and brand‑building objectives. This position partners cross‑functionally with SEO, UX, Product, Brand, Loyalty, and external agencies to deliver best‑in‑class hotel, destination, and brand content that enhances engagement, supports revenue goals, and positions Choice Hotels as an authoritative travel publisher. Note: This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship now or in the future. Responsibilities Strategic Editorial Leadership: Define and evolve the editorial strategy and roadmap; develop frameworks, style guides, and processes; oversee content performance analytics; champion editorial excellence. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of writers and editors; set performance expectations; provide coaching; oversee resource planning; introduce training programs. Agency, Vendor & Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Direct editorial efforts for third‑party content partners; own editorial calendar; act as senior point of contact for agencies. Content Innovation & Brand Publisher Development: Identify emerging trends; champion AI technologies; drive initiatives for travel content leadership. Operational Excellence & Quality Management: Oversee workflows, governance, and quality assurance; partner with translation/localization, UX, SEO, and product teams; establish metrics and dashboards. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Experience: 5–7+ years of professional writing, content strategy, or communications with a strong portfolio of digital content. Editorial Leadership: 3–5+ years leading editorial teams or managing writers/editors; experience managing agencies or large‑scale content operations preferred. Track Record: Proven ability to drive organic search growth, content strategy, or brand storytelling for a large consumer‑facing digital brand. Technical Skills: Expertise in SEO principles, keyword strategy, and search‑driven content optimization; proficiency with content management systems, workflow tools, and analytics platforms; understanding of HTML, metadata, accessibility guidelines, and digital publishing best practices. Leadership Competencies: Ability to lead through influence and build trust with cross‑functional partners; strong operational mindset; excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred: Hospitality, travel, or destination content experience; experience in multi‑brand environments or loyalty programs.
