Hiring Salary: $21.69/Hourly

Under the direction of the Operations Manager and Grants Administrator, the Grants and Contracts Coordinator supports the grants and contracts administrative and financial functions for the Basic Sciences Administration. This position works closely with the Office of Sponsored Programs, Grants Accounting offices, and Faculty Principal Investigators (PI).

Responsibilities

1. Assists faculty in the preparation of grants and contracts proposals by reviewing guidelines and budgets to ensure compliance; works closely with the office of sponsored programs, principal investigators, and subcontractors on research contracts.
2. Organizes and prioritizes the timing of various submissions to ensure all deadlines are met. Meets with the PI to review grant guidelines, deadlines, and needed forms and information.
3. Maintains current knowledge of all new NIH procedures for submission.
4. Tracks and assists as needed with IRB approvals.
5. Assists Principal Investigators in preparation of progress and final reports; maintains schedules and tracks progress to ensure deadlines are met.
6. Implements grants and contract budgets and assists the PI with budgets and monthly expenditure reports for federal, foundation, and privately sponsored grants and contracts.
7. Monitors effort reporting to ensure compliance including, running monthly effort certification reports, verifying, and correcting efforts as necessary.
8. Devises supporting grant documents such as subcontracts, justifications for sole source services, working closely with PIs, Business Science Administration, Office of Sponsored Programs and Sponsored Grants Accounting staff.
9. Assists with updating and editing pertinent research documents such as curriculum (biosketches), other support documents, etc., as requested.
10. Responds to special requests from internal or external stakeholders (e.g., sponsors) on matters relating to the department's grant or contract operations.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, or a related field in health care management. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in financial management; OR a combination of related college coursework in an academic or business setting to equal five (5) years.

• Ability to think and work independently as well as collaboratively.
• Demonstrates effective listening, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and proof documents for accuracy.
• Demonstrated experience in accounting, management, financial standards, fiscal policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of federal guidelines for grant proposal submissions.
• Excellent organizational skills.

WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings.
