Production Supervisor

Overview Ultium Cells is a joint venture lithium‑Ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors. This new construction high‑technology plant will have the latest battery cell manufacturing technology. The investment in this new business venture represents a commitment of more than $2.3 Billion and will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors North American electric vehicle applications. The Ultium cell partners include LG Energy Solutions, the world’s largest manufacturer of automotive battery cells, and General Motors, a global company committed to delivering safer, better and more sustainable ways for people to get around. Position Description A Production Supervisor (TN) ensures production and quality goals are achieved through teamwork and clear communication. The supervisor trains and develops operators for success, creates a positive working environment based on mutual respect, and evaluates and updates the production schedule, overseeing quality control to ensure products are produced on time and projects are completed within the deadline. The role uses the Safety and Environment, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost framework to accomplish essential job duties. Job Responsibilities Ensure compliance for plant safety and environmental regulations Act as a deep‑skilled operator/subject matter expert of assigned equipment Ensure equipment is properly maintained to meet high equipment efficiency targets Support team members and coordinate the activities of employees engaged in production or processing of goods Read and analyze charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records to determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates and outputs Collaborate with other leaders to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals Support and train team to inspect materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions Demonstrate equipment operations, safety procedures, and quality expectations to support employee training Facilitate team‑based problem solving Observe key performance indicators of work area; monitor gauges, dials, and equipment performance to ensure operators conform to production or processing standards Confer with leadership and team to resolve workforce concerns and promote employee engagement Interpret specifications, part and assembly drawings, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers Perform additional duties as assigned Qualifications and Competencies Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field (preferred) OR equivalent combination of education and experience Proven experience in a manufacturing supervisory role with a strong understanding of complex production processes and techniques; experience in lithium‑ion battery manufacturing is a plus Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures with a commitment to creating and maintaining a safe working environment Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously Proficiency in MS Office applications and manufacturing software systems Ability to work in a collaborative, multicultural team environment Strong organizational and leadership abilities Self‑motivated with a results‑driven approach Strong understanding of quality processes Effective oral and written communication skills Proven problem‑solving skills Must be able to speak, read and write English Total Rewards Information We offer market‑competitive compensation including base pay and incentive compensation opportunities based on the achievement of company goals.
